Update #022: Summer Rehearsals Begin!

Rehearsals started on Monday
What an amazing group
Mike, Isadora, Chris, and Robin are the theatrical interns, with Dzavid and Kevin as the long term interns. Kate will join from this coming Thursday.
We started out with some awkward warmups in the AM
Mike ran an amazing exercise
Afternoon spent discussing our social contract, which is an agreement on how we will run our ensemble
Very exciting so far and I’m looking forward to more rehearsals this week!
Our rehearsal venue is getting busier during weekday daytimes and not only is it getting hard to book enough rehearsal hours, but we may not have enough access to the space during production week— the week leading up to the show.
- Meeting with the owner this week to discuss scheduling
Considering dropping the masks policy for rehearsal— I’m really having mask fatigue in rehearsals now, and it makes the physical activities harder.
- Will need consensus on this, but I think I’m the most conservative on this matter

Have lined up a very low-paying lighting job for another Kawasaki-based arts group
Very basic lighting design/operation for a flamenco show in a tiny community space
Low ceilings, no way to hang lights
Chris, intern with lighting experience, will be designing and operating with me assisting and providing hopefully useful thoughts
